From the beginning it was very important to me, to make sure that every penny donated went directly to Comic Relief. To do this I needed help, and I’m very lucky to have a group of supporters, who have been exceptionally generous to me, but most importantly really fit in with who I am, and what I like.
It’s really cool to have them onboard and without them, this campaign wouldn’t be what it is today.
HTC is the lead sponsor for Everest Million.
Since its launch in 1997, HTC has become one of the leading smartphone manufacturers in the world. By putting real people at the centre of everything it does – from the design of its handsets to its advertising – HTC pushes the boundaries of performance, design and technology to create innovative and personal experiences for people like Daniel. To launch its latest handsets, the HTC One™ series, HTC challenged two amateur photographers to capture the world’s first free fall fashion shoot on a mobile phone whilst freefalling at 126mph. The resulting ad campaign is running in over 40 markets.
As lead sponsor for the Everest Million project, HTC will be supporting Daniel every step of the way to help him achieve this feat. He will be using HTC smartphones to help track his progress, record the experience and keep the world – not to mention his wife! – updated. The technical team at HTC is already stress testing its devices to ensure they’re able to withstand the extreme conditions he’ll be faced with from temperatures as cold as minus 60 degrees to wind speeds of up to 60mph. We’ll keep you posted with our progress….

Rab® is renowned for producing outstanding quality clothing and sleeping bags, suitable for extreme cold environments and high altitude mountaineering – gear ‘for the most extreme conditions in the world’.
When iconic mountaineer and founder of the company Rab Carrington started to learn the art of making sleeping bags in Patagonia in 1974, he did so to pass the time whilst he patiently waited for customs to release his climbing equipment. In making the bags from scratch, Rab learnt a huge amount about the technical construction of sleeping bags and after his Patagonian climbing trip came to an end he decided to stay on to learn more. An extremely talented climber, Rab spent much of the 1970s on ground breaking expeditions around the world and in doing so gained a true and first-hand understanding of exactly what climbers that were pushing the boundaries needed from their gear.
Rab combined his knowledge of the mountains with the skills he had learnt in South America and in true entrepreneurial style, set up Rab® the business in a back room at his home in Sheffield, UK in 1981. Rab made kit for climbers, by climbers and in the mid-1980s became the first manufacturer in the world to use Pertex® fabrics in the production of sleeping bags and down jackets. By incorporating innovative technologies and techniques, Rab gained a reputation for making products of incredible quality and of producing kit which led the way in function and design.
His legacy continues today with a team of people dedicated to making products for the ‘most extreme conditions in the world’. The company’s passion for the outdoors, long standing partnerships with performance material suppliers and pioneering ethos have enabled the current team to continue to push these limits and remains core to current product development. Rab® are committed to designing exceptional garments and equipment that focus on performance and quality and make them the obvious choice for mountaineers, explorers and polar travellers who operate in the world’s harshest conditions.
